The Work Exchange Exhibition is up at The Clay Studio, and it looks great. I got some images shot of the work I have showing, and I'm pretty satisfied. It's a modified version of Ophelia on the Rocks called<i> Mitosis</i>. It came about by removing Octoboy from the top. The table looked really great by itself, and seemed finished. I'm really excited about Mitosis, as it seems like a concrete divergence from work I had been making. It's much more abstract, but still conveys a queer aura. I'm really excited by how the color and glitter resin turned out. The "nodes" fade perfectly into the color of the table, and the reflections from the glitter work to unify the different mediums and forms.</div>

Got a lot of work done on the price since I've last posted. Just sharing the progress. I still need to attach foam on table, pour the glitter resin, and attach the nodes into it. They are firing now so I'm excited to pull them out Monday morning. Then I need to make the body and dress for octoboy. Things are coming along quickly. Need to be finished by end of June for the work exchange show at The Clay Studio.<br />

I got started casting the parts for the base for Ophelia and created the bust for it as well. I'm going to need 30 to 50 more to finish the platform. I'm thinking of glazing them in a chartreuse and mounting them into astro-turf. I want to attach the bust to a sewn octopus body with a big Lolita style dress, and drape him over the casts. I'm really excited about seeing the all the parts come together.

Getting started molding some a part for a new work I'm starting to put together. Its exciting to be excited about work again. :)

The Oracle

Getting started on some new work. It s a combination of throwing and hand building using laguna's 20g clay. Its really tactile and easy to work with. I'm hoping to completely cover in fake flowers and glaze in semi transparent low fire glazes. I've recently decided that low fire clays are a better route for my work ad it allows me to decorate them in the colors appropriate for my work. This piece has a foot stand but it is not pictured. This will be at the bamf 2 show at the Brikhaus Art Space in Baltimore in early April. The opening is April 7th. See you there!<br />

Been a while since I posted last. In the last two months I've been quite distracted. Started working at the Ceramic Shop full time, got two peices into the Our Community show at The Clay Studio and applied for the Graduate program at Ohio State. Getting nervous waiting for their response.<br />

Here are some of the new slides I had taken of some recent work. Hoping to get back into making. I signed up to take a mold making class this coming spring session at the clay studio, and in April I have a group show in Baltimore at The Brickhaus Art Space, and the work exchange show in June. Gotta keep chugging.<br />

Did a little more work yesterday. I managed to trim the covers to the fruit dishes I'm making. But, unfortunately, I don't like them so they will just be glaze tests. On the other hand, the more I work the more I discover what I really want the work to look like.<br />

I took a break yesterday to start working on my figures. Instinct took over and somehow he ended up with Octopus arms. I really like it, and It oddly fits in with the rest of my work. I still want to use the imari gosu to draw cherry blossom flowers on parts of the surface, and luster the heart on the chest. I've decided to change the color of the roses from pink/blue to gold. It seemed... right :)<br />
