Getting started molding some a part for a new work I'm starting to put together. Its exciting to be excited about work again. :)

Getting started on some new work. It s a combination of throwing and hand building using laguna's 20g clay. Its really tactile and easy to work with. I'm hoping to completely cover in fake flowers and glaze in semi transparent low fire glazes. I've recently decided that low fire clays are a better route for my work ad it allows me to decorate them in the colors appropriate for my work. This piece has a foot stand but it is not pictured. This will be at the bamf 2 show at the Brikhaus Art Space in Baltimore in early April. The opening is April 7th. See you there!<br />

I've modified the plan a little bit. I'm going to make medium sized plates, with domed covers decorated to look like landscapes. When you lift them the drawings on the plate will be exposed. It adds a bit more dimension to the work.<br />

The drawings are going pretty well. I bought some new brushes to help get more detail but I may actually need to get an even smaller brush so that I can get even more detail on the drawings.<br />

I finished my first draft of my letter of intent, and am all set to mail out release forms for my transcripts from MICA. I need to make contact with my last reference before I can submit my application, then finish the work by late November so I have time to get professional images of them taken.<br />

Walrus Orgasms & New Figure Work

I got walrus out of the kiln. He still needs eyeballs and such but I love the rough texture and color of his skin that came about by spraying layers of black and clear. It has the perfect damp sheen. I'm going to start building the base soon. I also finished up the hands and feet of the cupcake. I will post that image after they get glazed.<br />
On another note, I have begun work on a new figurative piece. Trying to sharpen up my sculpting skills haha. Made both hands and one foot. Im using bmix for its off white color, perfect for more of a skin-like tone. Im thinking I will build a wire armature body and sew an outfit for it. Similar to work I did ages ago in highschool. <br />

More from my proposal for the artist in residency program at Seto. This set is for I Can See the Future. Here his visions are of text messages haha. He sees an impending breakup, which brings him to tears and bring his vision in to the puddle of his golden tears.This set is on plates, and has a design that runs with the form. The tears run off the figure and collect along the floor of the plate. At first glance it appears like a simple design but I think mixing the cobalt and the cold luster designs will be tricky.

Posting the work in progress helps show how much work really goes into applying for these residencies. Trying not to get my hopes up though, as everyone they have accepted has been over 40 in the last few years... and most have an MFA... I'm just going to turn my swag meter on high and submit anyway.

Canopy Complete, New Tree Stalk, & Gifts

<div>So I've finished the canopy, it needs a few touchups here and there but otherwise its going very well.  I think im going to decorate it with some torn up pom poms and rhinestones. Super excited. I also threw the stalk/trunk of the next tree i'll be making. Its more losey-gosey than the others but im excited to see how that will play out.<br />

Everything is turning out wonderfully. Everytime I look at the head from a distance I lust laugh because it already has the dumb smug expression the walrus has in the drawing haha. Having so much fun in the studio.<br />

The tree is almost halfway finished. The base of the tree needs one more coat of paint and the canopy for the tree has yet to be made. After I finish the canopy ill begin making the base and embroidering the faces of all the flowers. I also have to start making the walrus(in clay). It should be a big ball of fun. Expect updates throughout the week as I get more done.<br />
