In preparation for show in September, I've begun <i>Into the Abyss (The Road to Glory)</i>. It's an LED Mirror based photographic sculpture... I built a foam heart, and I'm covering it in silk roses. On n the front a 6x6" two-way mirror will be inset, and on the back an 8x8" regular mirror will be attached. A photograph of me in costume will be attached to the mirror on the back, and the inside will be covered in small roses with LED lights in the centers. The result should be what appears to be the Dooman skipping through an endless tunnel of roses, since the mirrors reflecting each other should appear to be endless. I'm getting pretty excited about it. More on the show in another post sometime this week after I get more details.

Took some early photos, and started editing a bit. This is the wooden heart, with roses, mounted on the silk and vintage fabric, and surrounded by felt dots I cut out. This is just a cropped section of the image, as I don't want to spoil the final unveil. I've been working all day so I had to share at least this much. More coming tomorrow, and hopefully finished photo by the end of the week. I'm loving the glow it has so far, the majority is good lighting with help from a few simple blur and screen filters. Trying to add as many layers of design as possible.

Finally got around to putting the polka dots on the heart prop for Rise of the Dooman. Now I'll be working on the backdrop, using the same blue vintage fabric from Trip to your heart as the main spread but adding on sewn pink hearts. It's turning out well, so i'm going to try to steam through the rest of this before the end of the week. Wish me luck!

I got caught up in travels for family and friends, and in general just haven't adjusted to having another internship. I finally got back to crocheting my leggings, which have transformed into a semi body suit. They are turning out pretty well. I finished the first full leg and the front on top. <br />
The neck and vest for the dooman using a variety of patterned and bright colored fabrics. The neck peice is lightly stuffed to give it some extra shape. The test is made from paper cutouts to give a sense of the shapes and sizes for the wood I need get.<br />

The Candy Minhwa's set will be a 6 foot circle in 7 parts, with a two foot hole in the middle. Creating a 2ft round platform. It will have a tree in the hill and tree in the middle, and surrounded by blue silk roses at the base, to act as the water. Im essentially creating an island. The set itself will act as an installation, titled, "The Road to Rediculous". As rediculousness is circular and tends to lead to itself. It will be some color near magnolia pink, with green rhinestone polkadots. I'm hoping to be more ambitious with the next two sets since the Trip to Your Hear(Birth of a Star) set was a bit more simple. After watching Pink Narcissus by John Bidgood and learning he also built and staged it all in his NYC apartment, I can't help but try to do more :)<br />
