Did a little more work yesterday. I managed to trim the covers to the fruit dishes I'm making. But, unfortunately, I don't like them so they will just be glaze tests. On the other hand, the more I work the more I discover what I really want the work to look like.<br />
<br />
I took a break yesterday to start working on my figures. Instinct took over and somehow he ended up with Octopus arms. I really like it, and It oddly fits in with the rest of my work. I still want to use the imari gosu to draw cherry blossom flowers on parts of the surface, and luster the heart on the chest. I've decided to change the color of the roses from pink/blue to gold. It seemed... right :)<br />

I was recently introduced to the work of James Bidgood. I watched his movie <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Pink-Narcissus-VHS-Don-Brooks/dp/6304819730?ie=UTF8&tag=dwknox88&link_code=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969" target="_blank">Pink Narcissus(1971)</a><img alt="" border="0" height="1" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=dwknox88&l=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&o=1&a=6304819730" style="border: medium none ! important; margin: 0px ! important; padding: 0px ! important;" width="1" /> and was left speechless. It was so visually beautiful and stunning. Its a story revolving around the fantasies of a male prostitute as he encounters suitors. I'm most fascinated by Bidgood's use of kitsch object and patterns in his work. I LOVE the flowers and bedazzled objects.<br />

He has a really good sense of composition and the way he builds the sets, and dresses his models really aids in creating dreamlike scenes and images. He is definitely a big influence as I piece together my new body of work. His photographs and film are beautiful depictions of the male body, and nude. They poetically display all the curves and cuts of the models. They are displayed as both masculine and strong, and effeminate and emotional. They are true portraits of men, displaying the beauty of each model, while carrying the mentality of the models and characters they portray.<br />

After hearing of the string of young gay male suicides I felt I should address it. The way i tried to blend in as I was bullied. <u><i> I tried to be something else, afraid to be myself</i></u>. Luckily after graduating and going to college I've become more confident.  I'm already excited to glaze this sucker. </div>
