The Berdaches

The Berdaches is officially the title of my new body of work. My work focuses on boundaries, created or real, and the spaces they inhabit. In particular my work focuses on the barriers we create between fantasy and reality, and between the genders male and female. I attempt to deconstruct these boundaries by reorganizing animals, various objects, and their parts to create new species and in a sense a middle ground. I use craft materials for their ability to make an object more homely, and while my color sensibility and mash-ups lend an otherworldly feeling, hopefully it all leads the viewer to the uncanny.

COLOR!

And the black glaze (not visible) is just for the heads of my sculptures. Shazam.

Getting really excited since the  pink zebra print silk i bought is so epic. Remember you can never be too kitsch, and its much worse to fall short of kitsch enough... so the pom pom tassles were a must. <br />
